USA FleetIAM District 141 and US Airways this week reached an understanding that extends existing scope protections to fleet service workers . The current contract allows for an annual “snapshop” of each station to determine the level of flight activity and assess whether or not that station could be outsourced. The annual “snapshot” is taken every April 5th.

In April 2013, during contract negotiations with US Airways, we agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that kept fleet service staffing levels stable during the expected period of time it would take to reach a replacement collective bargaining agreement. The MOU also allowed for the “snapshot” process to resume on April 5, 2014.

Since we have not been able to reach agreement regarding a new contract with US Airways to date, IAM District 141 and US Airways have agreed to extend the MOU reached last year until April 4, 2015.

The Company has agreed it will not outsource ramp work covered by our contract at any station currently served by IAM represented fleet service employees during this period.

It is our hope and expectation that a full agreement that addresses this and all other outstanding issues will be promptly negotiated before the expiration of this extended MOU. If not, members in all current stations shall remain under the terms of the MOU.
